DoubleCross is a map in the multiplayer mode of Half-Life. It was released by Valve Software for free on February 17, 1999[1], included with Half-Life: Further Data, and eventually added to the game itself in the 25th Anniversary Update on November 17, 2023.[2]

Overview[edit]

The principle is the same as in Crossfire. There is a bunker which can be used to call a nuclear strike against anyone outside of it every four minutes. Once the strike has been called, a one minute warning siren activates, giving everyone the chance to get to the bunker. There are far more tactical points in this map than in Crossfire, and it also addresses the bug in the Crossfire where people wouldn't get killed by the strike sometimes.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit]

Internally, the map is named Crossfire2, a reference to its origins in Crossfire.[3]

Dario Casali's signature can be found in the map using the noclip mode.

Trivia[edit]

One of the Health Chargers on the map can be found with its texture mistakenly reversed.
