Non-synth military[edit]

I thought it was the non-synth military.--97.101.231.142 23:39, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Well... it is. If the Overwatch designation refers exclusively to the Combine's operations on Earth, as the article suggests, then non-synth units (like the Overwatch Soldier), may be named as such simply because they are exclusive to Earth - and, therefore, the Overwatch - while most synths are employed by the Combine elsewhere as well, which may be why they aren't technically Overwatch units. That's all just my theory, but I think it makes sense. ;) --MattyDienhoff 04:20, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
I doubt that, during Breen's speech in Nova Prospekt he says "I have been asked to say a few words to the Transhuman arm of Sector 17 Overwatch..." (emphasis added), if the Overwatch designation only applies to non-synth units then there would be no need to specify that he was addressing the human branch only.
On a side note, I think I recall reading somewhere that Overwatch basically refers to "planetary garrison", the "peace keeping" forces that ensure a captured planet won't rebel against the Combine rule. 60.240.3.70 06:47, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Do Civil Protection count as part of the Overwatch, just wondering?Donovan-j-charlie 14:05, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

I don't think so. CPs are still human, which means that they cannot be trusted with more important stuff such as what's going on inside Nova Prospekt. Plus they were never seen alongside with soldiers. CPs handle trivial stuff while the soldiers are called in if the shit really hits the fan. Elites likely serve as high-security guards and heavy infantry.--Amitakartok 18:12, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Well, the Civil Protection troops are human and not transhuman, but they are still the Combine forces on Earth,so they do classify as Overwatch.User:Kovacslorand6 11:33, July 1, 2010

Hunter-Choppers[edit]

Should Hunter-Choppers be added to the list of vehicles considering they are derived from human vehicles and are piloted by overwatch troops? And to whoever said Overwatch was exclusive to earth, then they're wrong because at point the dispatcher threatens them with "offworld assignment" implying that the overwatch and their vehicles are used on other worlds like every other branch of the combine military — Unsigned comment by 68.8.15.63

Voice actor(s)[edit]

Anyone know who voices the Combine soldiers? NoriMori (ノリモリ) 14:32, 22 November 2014 (GMT)

It's Kelly Bailey.--Barnz (talk) 17:18, 22 November 2014 (GMT)

Logos[edit]

As far as I'm aware there's absolutely no information that indicates any of the featured symbols are *the* official logos of entire Overwatch branches.

It seems the "CP" symbol is only associated with Civil Protection purely because it looks like "CP", yet it appears to be only on Gary and nowhere else. A better logo would be the one painted on the side of prisoner transports.

On the other hand there are so many insignias associated with the transhuman enemies that it's strange to single out one of them as representing the whole. Alepheon (talk) 20:56, 9 September 2022 (MSK)

The images were only added relatively recently, and I agree they're not accurate in representing the described branches of the Overwatch. All of the general Combine articles need a pass, but I'll remove these images for now. Marphy (talk) 06:08, 10 September 2022 (MSK)
