Resist pic[edit]

can someone put a picture of the resistance picture where it says "RESIST" under a picture of Breen that is often spray painted onto walls. Thanks — Unsigned comment by 151.199.96.59

Sound bite[edit]

I think something that would really put the icing on this article is a sound bite of one of Breen's broadcasts from Half Life 2. What do people think? Could this work on other articles too? Something in lieu of the quote at the top of each character page.ImWithFreeman 23:01, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Sounds great, as long as it's done in moderation, I don't want to see people uploading all the weapon and enemy sound effects, for example. :P --MattyDienhoff 04:19, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, fair enough. *Cancels upload* --ImWithFreeman 04:21, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Why...? --MattyDienhoff 04:24, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Gah... joking. dw. Hey would you have any idea why when I'm logged in the drop down menus and editing toolbar don't work, but when I'm logged out they do?--ImWithFreeman 04:26, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Hm, no idea. Actually now that I think about it I can't see the editing toolbar either. o_O --MattyDienhoff 04:48, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
ooooeeeeeoooo... Oh shit. It's working now. Damn wikia...--ImWithFreeman 04:57, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Edit[edit]

My apologies for my messed up edit summary, I pressed Enter in the middle of typing accidentally. I meant to say "I adjusted the positions of the images in the relationships section to that of their appropriate characters." Halo-343 20:19, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Black Mesa Pic[edit]

Isn't Breen the guy on the far right? Patzilla777 20:56, July 14, 2010 (UTC)

No, he's crossed out in the middle. On the far right is "Slick". Click the pic for more info. Klow 21:21, July 14, 2010 (UTC)

Human Affairs Bureau[edit]

Currently the article does not make any mention of the newspaper clip at Black Mesa East referring to an organization called "Human Affairs Bureau" that Breen was seemingly appointed to or put in charge of. With the heading "Black Mesa Admin Charged with Human Affairs Bureau" the meaning does seem to be some sort of appointment as the only other possible interpretation is to charge someone with a crime, but that does not make as much sense with the provided context. I wish to discuss this before making any edits.

The issue with including this information is that it's not immediately clear when exactly this would've taken place in relation to the Seven Hour War. However, it appears that with new information from Half-Life: Alyx Breen was known only as the Black Mesa Administrator before surrendering Earth to the Combine, and there doesn't seem to be any mention of his position as Earth's Administrator under the Combine anywhere in that game. Of course, the information on the Human Affairs Bureau could be included without specifying its place in the timeline.

I think this might be referring to a position Breen had during the beginning of the Combine occupation but before he became the Administrator. We have the interview with Robin Walker where he said that by the time of Half-Life: Alyx Breen hadn't yet become humanity's representative, which leads me to believe his role at that point was in this Human Affairs Bureau as there's seemingly no other place in the chronology where this headline would fit. I'm not completely sure as there is no explicit source on this article being written during the occupation, only other sources referring to Breen not being immediately made Administrator after the war and his seeming obscurity to the public in his role at Black Mesa before the war. To start, yes, the likely intended meaning is that Breen was put in charge of this entity called the Human Affairs Bureau. However, it's doubtful this particular isolated newspaper clipping can be accurately dated against the smatterings of hints we get about Breen from Half-Life: Alyx and Robin's one mention of him in that interview, and it's not even certain that the devs of HL:A remembered this headline or even really knew and understood what it meant. Given that there's little else to infer from what we're given, it's likely Breen's charge of the Human Affairs Bureau occurred after the Seven Hour War judging by the placement of the clipping on the corkboard (it's on top of earlier newspapers that mention the beginnings of the portal storms and the end of the war), and him becoming the Interim Administrator of Earth had to come after that judging by what Robin said in his interview (also supported by the placement of the clipping on the corkboard announcing his new title, being prominently displayed on top of everything else). Whatever else there is to say about the bureau, including its relation to or perhaps obsoletion by Breen's eventual declared title of Interim Administrator, isn't knowable. I've made a simple addition to the article making mention of the bureau, and I don't think there's much else to be said about it. Marphy (talk) 02:18, 28 October 2022 (MSK)
