The Half-Life Mod Expo was an annual event hosted by Valve and Sierra between 1999 to 2002, designed to be a showcase of the Half-Life modding community and its potential to both the press and the public. The expo showcased a large number of notable mods over the years, and gave a spotlight to lesser-known ones.

1999Edit
The first Half-Life Mod Expo was held at Club-I, an internet cafe in San Francisco, CA on July 29, 1999. It featured 7 mods, along with an opening speech from Gabe Newell, as well as a showcase of Team Fortress 2. The mods featured included Gunman Chronicles, Counter-Strike, Action Half-Life, Chemical Existence, Kanonball, Science & Industry, and USS Darkstar.

2000Edit
The second Half-Life Mod Expo was held on October 15th, 2000 in the Zodiac Club nightclub, also in San Francisco. The mods featured at the event were Firearms, Holy Wars, Frontline Force, Wanted!, The Opera, and Desert Crisis. Erik Johnson, Robin Walker, and Doug Lombardi were in attendance representing Valve. They gave an interview with Planet Half-Life about the state of the modding scene and Valve's involvement with mod teams.
2001Edit
The third Mod Expo was held on November 29th, 2001 in the Sony Metreon in San Francisco. The event was originally scheduled for September 27th, but was postponed due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The expo showcased Existence, Day of Defeat, Spirit of Half-Life, PolyFighter, and Natural Selection.
2002Edit
The fourth and final Mod Expo was held on July 22, 2002 at the CPL Summer Championship in Dallas. It featured 5 mods: MonkeyStrike, Global Warfare, BuzzyBots, Sven Co-op, and Half-Life Rally.
