Having a heck of a time parsing this[edit]
"If the player's current suit power is less than the damage that will be dealt to the suit, the damage to the player's health is subtracted by the suit power, then the suit power is set to 0."
I've turned this over in my head several times, and I can't figure out what it's supposed to mean. I've even written down example cases to try to work with, and the bolded part always trips me up.
As an example (using the HL1 suit calculation), let's say you're at 100 health and 17 suit, and something deals 50 damage. If the suit power were at 20, it would take 20 damage and the player would only take 10. Since the suit power is lower than 20, something else happens: "the damage to the player's health is subtracted by the suit power, then the suit power is set to 0."
But what does "the damage to the player's health is subtracted by the suit power" look like here? If the player is only taking 10 damage, you can't subtract 17 from that. The best I can come up with is: Because the suit power is so low, the player is actually taking the full 50 damage; but because there isn't literally 0 suit power, that 50 damage is reduced by 17 (for a total of 33), so that the player is still getting some benefit from having any suit power.
If that's what it means, I think that paragraph could stand to be reworded. Like, "If the player's current suit power is less than the damage that would be dealt to the suit, the player's health takes the full damage minus the suit power, then the suit power is set to 0." That's not perfect either, but I think it's a bit more comprehensible. (Assuming that I'm right about how this mechanic works in the first place, which I might not be.)
