Possibly how does the Pneumatic Diversity Vent from Portal 2 work and play into gameplay?

My thought is that the end of the vent creates a strong wind tunnel and sucks up all objects in the area, possibly as an upgraded Emergency Intelligence Incinerator, and some versions as a different type of Vital Apparatus Vent deployed in newer test chambers.

Telling by the informative poster and comparing it to already utilized functions in Portal, the Passive Monitoring System will cease suction, and a hydraulic will activate, turning a portion of the tube back towards the test chamber, (such as when a person goes through, or possibly a personality core) and they will not be sent to the Diversity Furnace.

It could be used in the newly developed test chambers, or in an ending boss fight to assure that nobody gets frustrated that they accidentally fell in the Incinerator.
