Mutations[edit]

the mutations + rumor come from the prima guide, so they are canon. Capt Jim 21:33, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

does the mutation stuff have to be in the article? I'm just gonna make it under a trivia title. It is unlikely the antlions have mutated, it's just another breed that was unseen before because the games didn't get into the antlion habitat. — Unsigned comment by Scruffy

Rename?[edit]

I propose we rename this article 'Antlion Worker'. 'Acid Worker Antlion' is a very awkward way of wording it. Also, I really don't consider the Prima guides to be dependable sources of information, even if they are official. This is a perfect example, it seems to me that the Prima Guide's explanation for the Worker's appearance dates from back when the new Antlions were simply regular Antlions that glowed, rather than an entirely new variety. --MattyDienhoff 10:07, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm in favour in theory, but what's the entity name for it? That's usually the acid test for proper names, so to speak. Coming Second 12:38, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

That's the problem. Like the Overwatch Elites, they don't have one of their own. They use npc_antlion --MattyDienhoff 01:56, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, if no one has any objections, I'll move this to "Antlion Worker" later today. --MattyDienhoff 03:10, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Spawning[edit]

A while ago in the spawning in-game section, somebody wrote that ot spawn an Antlion Worker in Episode Two you had to type 'npc_antlion_acid'. I'm assuming thats rubbish or that how you spawn them in Garry's Mod or some other mod. --Donovan-j-charlie 00:49, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Wait, why isn't this article at Acid Antlion? That's what the game's subtitles explicitly identify them as. Dazuro 08:40, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Half-Life: Alyx variant[edit]

The developer commentary for Half-Life: Alyx refers to the spitting antlions as Antlion Spitters, not Antlion Workers. I think they're supposed to be a separate type entirely. Shouldn't they have their own article? 24.63.225.51 02:57, 13 February 2021 (MSK)

The new information from the HL:A commentary has yet to be greatly integrated into the wiki. The new HL:A Antlion being called a Spitter does indeed now warrant the creation of its own article as it's our first formal identification for it. I just personally haven't had time to get around to the many tasks that the release of the commentary has yielded. Marphy (talk) 03:38, 13 February 2021 (MSK)
