Antarctica[edit]
So.. the Combine fired cold-sensitive enemies at a ship located in Antarctic waters?
Sheer genius.
No wonder they are losing so hard. Kahlzun 09:54, March 28, 2010 (UTC)
- That's the Combine for you. The sheer stupidity was probably why it was cut. Boygenius32 13:06, March 28, 2010 (UTC)
- At that point in development, the Borealis was probably the version that drifted freely in the sea. Or as a way to trick everyone on board into freezing themselves to death. The Dias 07:32, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
- I think that the Borealis was still in construction at the time it disappeared. Why else would it be in drydock? Boygenius32 16:58, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

The borealis is north, Antarctica is in the south.
Eurypterid[edit]
IN case anyone didn't recognize it, it's clearly based on this 'sea scorpion' — Unsigned comment by 173.11.36.165
- That's original research. Apart from superficial resemblance, it was already compared by David Speyrer - one of Valve's cabal leaders on HL2 - to the real life ant lion, as described in the article. With that in mind, and looking at the concept art, it is also possible that the "head" part of the creature is where the tentacles are, in which case the resemblance to the Eurypterid is even less strong, and even less relevant.
