Hello![edit]

I plan to translate articles on the combine over wiki into Russian, since you have already started doing this, I think you can help me. Also, can you leave your contacts (discord for example) so that I can contact you in the future. .

Hello![edit]

Hi--Mr. System Error (talk) 17:59, 8 May 2024 (MSK)

"Do your own research"?[edit]

Why use such a passive-aggressive tone in response to my edit to the Blast Pit page? I wasn't contesting the veracity of the statement, simply pointing out that citing a source for it would be advisable. I don't know nor claim to know every single thing about the HL series, and don't necessarily have the time to comb through every developer interview or other external media in search of a justification for somebody else's claim (in particular, since the article is about HL1, I certainly wouldn't have thought to consult Raising the Bar). In cases where I do know a reference for an unsourced statement, I have provided the source myself in the past.

I've noticed this is the second time you've seemingly reacted quite poorly to me adding the {{fact}} template to an article, so I would like to know if there is a kind of unspoken subtext regarding its use that I've completely missed. My intention with it is not to discredit the wiki, let alone personally attack whoever wrote any given claim, but simply to point out statements that I think are not necessarily obviously true, and call upon those in the know to add clarification and strengthen the article. A wiki like this is a collaborative effort, after all! However, if using that template has a negative connotation (or some other negative effect), I apologize and will avoid using it again in the future. 86.75.115.1 04:08, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

I wish to chime in here to avoid any escalation. It can be easy to misread the intentions behind short and blunt edit summaries. I want to emphasize that we are all making these contributions to serve the same goal of improving the wiki over time, and both you and Cvoxalury are very much appreciated in your tireless efforts. There is no antagonism meant behind making constructive corrections, whether it's highlighting statements that should have a source or providing the citation to corroborate said claim. Both are necessary to develop the wiki, and the ultimate end result is an article that is better off for it. Marphy (talk) 04:20, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
I'm sorry I phrased it that way. I lost patience for a moment and responded too quickly instead of thinking for an extra minute. I'll try and avoid any more of this in the future. Cvoxalury (talk) 04:22, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
All good. I can confirm Marphy's statement that there is no antagonism from my end and I'm sure you would agree for yours. I was mainly concerned that my edits were being perceived as a nuisance due to a lack of knowledge or context. I will nonetheless make more of an effort to search for a source myself in the future and limit the {{fact}} template to cases where I'm truly stumped or otherwise unable to dig deeper, as I'm sure that is more immediately helpful to the wiki. 86.75.115.1 04:27, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
