Notes[edit]

Aaron Stackpole: I actually interviewed for two jobs at Valve, first as a level designer where I did get to see an early version of Half-Life. --Barnz (talk) 17:37, 22 October 2016 (BST)

Travis Brady's years of employment[edit]

The article currently refers to Brady's LinkedIn (which requires signing in to check, and I don't have a profile there, so I'm not sure if the info is even still there), and says he was employed since Nov 1999 to Jan 2002. However, on his Artstation profile he wrote down that he's been with Valve between Jan 1998 and Jan 2001, and with Bungie between Jan 2001 and Jan 2015. Which source should take precedence? I'm more inclined stick with the LinkedIn dates as it includes more information, suggesting he put a little more effort into filling it out. His ArtStation lacks his employment before Valve which LinkedIn states was at Sierra On-Line. The months there still don't make sense, though, since his stated time at Valve overlaps with Bungie. The only real way to be certain is probably to just ask him, but for now, the article is accurately citing a sufficient source, and the discrepancy is a result of his own reporting which isn't significant enough to make an explicit note about in the text.
For future reference, this is what Travis' LinkedIn states:
  • Sierra On-Line - Art Director
    Jun 1992 - Jun 1999
    Bellevue, Washington
  • Valve corporation - 3D Artist
    Nov 1999 - Nov 2002
    Bellevue, Washington
  • Bungie - Senior 3D Artist
    Jun 2002 - Jun 2015
    Bellevue, Washington
  • Highwire Games - Character Art Director
    Jun 2015 - Present

Chia Chin Lee[edit]

The metadata in the sounds that have his name shows that they were exported from Sound Forge 4.0 and 4.5. Sound Forge has a feature where the "Engineer" space will be automatically filled with the name of whoever it was registered to during the installation process. Thus it can be inferred that the presence of Chia Chin Lee's name in the metadata is the result of being exported through his personal copy of Sound Forge. Sounds that were made by Kelly Bailey also have this kind of metadata, but were exported from Sound Forge 5.0 or 6.0 instead. I'm not sure how to cite a source for this because many sound effects in HL2 and the leak have this metadata. TheExplodingBarrel (talk) 06:19, 29 April 2026 (UTC)

The fact his name is in the file data is self-evident (for me it doesn't show in Windows Explorer for some reason, but is visible when opening any such audio file in a text editor). Sound Forge 4.0-4.5 (sometimes, both at the same time) is also there. Wouldn't it be enough to just point out he's in the metadata, since it's unquestionable? The source link can just point out the metadata itself, and mention "Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2 leak sound files" or something along those lines (similar to how I pointed out R. Lord's work on assets). The "the result of..." part isn't strictly necessary. Cvoxalury (talk) 07:32, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
I worded it that way because it originally stated "it is not known if he is the creator of these files, or if it's the result of an audio processing software" and wanted to elaborate more on that. I do agree that your method is a better way of doing it though. TheExplodingBarrel (talk) 16:32, 29 April 2026 (UTC)
