Gallery[edit]
I think the gallery added something to the article. :( --MattyDienhoff 00:34, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well, sorry. Consistency, consistency, I'll say. Klow 00:36, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
- I still think this article would benefit from a gallery. I don't see how consistency comes into it, because we don't have any specific policies on gallery usage (do we?). As I understand it, the general rule of thumb is to place images in the article in the relevant places (for example, the relevant place for a picture of New Little Odessa in this article is next to the New Little Odessa section) unless they won't fit neatly, in which case a gallery (most often down the bottom of the article or close to it) is used to neatly display the images that don't fit elsewhere in the article.
- Template:Imagecat is a nice addition, but isn't a replacement for having the relevant images in the article itself, especially not when the category it links to is too broadly defined. For example, you replaced the gallery in Combine Dropship (that consisted of four dropship images) with the template leading to Category:Synth images. That's like removing the three gallery images from Combine SPAS-12 and replacing them with a link to Category:Weapon images, a category that contains hundreds of images, when only a few are relevant to the article in question. My point is the image category template is merely a resource that leads readers to images on similar topics to the one they're reading about now. It shouldn't replace having the relevant images in the article itself. --MattyDienhoff 06:54, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Good points. Actually the Synth template is merely temporary. It's a start to rassemble all Synth images and then create subcategories for the Dropship, Gunship, etc. Notable subjects should have all these galleries. Maybe we should make a policy, but I don't think many people care. Let's say we remove lone galleries in the articles, have as many images spread into the text, and put the rest in a more specific separated gallery. Klow 16:12, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Maps[edit]
Hi! So I played the beta again today and I noticed that the maps (props/papermap002a.vtf and props/papermap003a.vtf) look a bit different and that you can clearly see that they are based on maps of Bremerton and an area around the Puget Sound. The retail maps are the same, only with less colour and they erased all the names of places. Should I upload the beta maps and add the info somewhere in the Trivia or the Behind The Scenes section? - They have already been uploaded (see User:Klow/Sandbox#Maps). 18 () 11:44, 25 March 2016 (GMT)
