Disorganized Codes[edit]

The radio codes in the voice lines on the current page are terribly disorganized. These include the 10-Codes, 11-Codes and all the different numbers and abbreviations used by the Metrocops. Should there be a uniformed format for these things, for instance"10-2" should be either"10-2" or"ten- two", rather than a mix of them in the same word. Same thing happens with the Overwatch Voice page. Any thoughts about cleaning up the transcripts? Requiem (talk) 10:08, 16 July 2020 (MSK)

You'll have to specify what lines you see problems in. Unless the section is specifically designated as having "No text data", the transcripts for all of these Metrocop and Overwatch lines come directly from the games, either from the closed captions or the text data embedded within the wave files themselves. Only the most minimal changes have been made to these transcriptions here on the wiki for the purposes of formatting or correcting typos. Hence, these lines are presented precisely as Valve has written them. Marphy (talk) 13:05, 16 July 2020 (MSK)

If that's the case, then I'm perfectly fine with it. One example of the mixed lines I mentioned is clearno647no10-107. The file name says"10-107", however the transcript reads"ten-107". Is that intentional?Requiem (talk) 14:57, 16 July 2020 (MSK)

Yes, that transcription is verbatim from the wave file. In cases where subjective interpretations can occur, we defer to Valve's own choice of wording where possible. However, we can see other instances of the "10-107" code appearing in other lines where it's written numerically like the other codes, as well as in the filename itself. In this particular case, this is a minor formatting inconsistency where it would be appropriate to adjust the transcriptions, but I think that'd be best performed after a complete review of the lines for consistency across the board, as you suggest. All of these quotes articles are still accordingly marked for cleanup, so you're welcome to initiate your own pass in this regard. Marphy (talk) 00:28, 17 July 2020 (MSK)
