From Combine OverWiki, the original Half-Life wiki and Portal wiki
This sandbox is being used to list Half-Life and Portal media, sorted by in-universe chronological order. Because of the ambiguity of when exactly most material in the franchise is set, and its many anachronisms, this list is separated into sections by each respective era, and makes use of a heavy amount of guesstimating. Dates are presented as DD/MM/YYYY.
This list excludes (unless stated why otherwise):
- Media that could take place at any point in the timeline or their respective game's setting.
- Media that doesn't follow an in-universe narrative (most game manuals, strategy guides, and development books, developer references, ApertureScience.com, ARGs, etc.).
- Unofficial, dubiously canon, and non-canon materials, and lost or cancelled media.
Pre-Combine[edit]
Title | Time Period | Release Date | Type | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Turret Lullaby | Circa 1980s |
02/10/2011 | Portal 2 Comic | Must take place sometime before Cave Johnson's death in the late 1980s as he narrates an Investment Opportunity video featuring the consumer version of the Aperture Science Sentry Turret, released posthumously copyrighted 1998. |
Perpetual Testing Initiative | Circa 1988 |
08/05/2012 | Portal 2 level editor | Time period taken from the copyright notice seen in the PeTI trailer. PeTI takes place across the multiverse with no direct connections to the "real" Half-Life/Portal universe. As such, several elements not developed until after 1988 in the "real" universe may appear across the PeTI multiverse. |
The Black Mesa Incident[edit]
- Some information in this section is taken from the excellent timeline of the Black Mesa Incident created by Marphy Black, found here.
- Although the official year the Black Mesa Incident occurs is "200-", information from Raising the Bar suggests it takes place in 2003. Whilst this is an unofficial dating, it will be used in this list for the sake of rounding.
