The Blob is an enemy that was developed for the cancelled Half-Life 2: Episode Three.[1]

Overview[edit]
In-game, it shows up as error.mdl, due to its model missing. Upon finding an enemy, it will come into contact in it and "consume" the enemy, dealing 5 points of damage every 0.0225 seconds.
Its actual appearance, seen in the Half-Life 2: 20th Anniversary Documentary, is a transparent blob with thorn-like tentacles on the inside connected to a "brain". This may explain the "absorption" attack. In the Source Particle Benchmark, the Blob takes the appearance of multiple Snarks with no animation. Another one of its abilities is to pass through grates, or see-through material (excluding glass).
Fate[edit]
Some of its code was reused to make the Mobility Gels in Portal 2.
