Story[edit]
Chapter 1: Mission Improbable[edit]
Chapter 1 of Mission Improbable follows Gordon Freeman, as he is tasked with re-activating a Resistance listening post, located on top of a lighthouse (also known as Station 21). Gordon arrives in a boat, which is left behind at a small cove. He later finds out that the post was attacked by the Combine via headcrab canisters. After a puzzle where the player turns off the power to proceed, a transmission from Outpost 16 is heard.
Shortly after its activation, a Combine strike team arrives, and a Gunship destroys the listening post.
After fighting the Combine forces, Gordon gets down to the nearby beach where he picks up a RPG and has to fight the incoming gunship.
Chapter 2: Reverse Advance[edit]
This chapter continues where the previous chapter left off, as Gordon Freeman makes his way to Outpost 16 using the Muscle Car, occasionally stopping along the way, much like in Episode Two. In the final car stop, Gordon uses a headcrab canister inside of a repurposed auto repair shop to launch himself onto the other side of the canyon. He then makes the rest of the journey on foot to Outpost 16.
At the Resistance base, Gordon meets up with Dr. Magnus, the base's wheelchair-bound leader. They then discuss a plan to attack a nearby Combine facility.
Trivia[edit]
Dr. Magnus bears a striking resemblance to English theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking.
Chapter 3: Exciting Finale[edit]
This chapter has Gordon enter the Combine facility seen in the previous chapter via a path under the bridge, creating a distraction for the Resistance. A Razor Train carrying headcrab canisters is discovered, and Gordon then triggers their premature launch, causing the facility to collapse. Gordon then escapes the facility until he's stopped at a skybridge.
A Hunter-Chopper attacks Gordon and destroys the skybridge above the water, however Gordon finds shelter in a nearby shack. He finds an RPG ammo crate, but finds out that it's filled with junk. Dr. Magnus saves Gordon at the last minute, destroying the Hunter-Chopper with a M202 FLASH-like rocket launcher strapped to his wheelchair.
Mission Improbable ends with Gordon and Dr. Magnus finding out that everyone from the Resistance squad is either dead or badly injured.
Reception[edit]
