The Sticky Launcher is a weapon cut from Half-Life 2. It can be found in the playable Half-Life 2 leak.
Overview[edit]
Appearing like the standard Half-Life 2 pistol, it shoots "Sticky Bombs",[1] red/pink blobs that stick to anything, including enemies (but not to each other), and somehow reflect the surrounding environment. The player can then detonate them with the secondary fire key, much like the Satchel Charge or the S.L.A.M. It also has long range firing capabilities (like a grenade) if pointed higher. It uses medium rounds, which are also used by the OICW and AK-47.[2]
It is unknown what faction was to use the weapon nor if it was to be in the final version of the game. The pistol model is also probably a placeholder.
Trivia[edit]
- A similar weapon, the sticky bomb launcher, is used by the Demoman in Team Fortress 2. However, the sticky bombs do not stick to enemy players, buildings, or gates. It is unknown if this weapon was made from scratch or is an actual descendant of the Sticky Launcher, which could be its prototype featured in the Half-Life 2 leak for some reason.
- The Magnusson Device effects are similar to that of the Sticky Launcher.
- The Sticky Launcher is included in Half-Life 2 mods such as Missing Information and SMOD.
- The Sticky Bomb model is also produced by the Physgun's secondary fire.
