The Incendiary Rifle, also known as IRifle, is a weapon cut from Half-Life 2. It can be found in the playable Half-Life 2 leak.
Overview[edit]
The IRifle is essentially a multishot Flare Gun, with 5 rounds per magazine. If a flare hits a target, it will automatically be set on fire. However, the flare tends to quickly hit the ground soon after it is fired, making the weapon ineffective past short range.
Fate[edit]
The IRifle model was recycled for the AR2 Pulse Rifle, with slight changes. Its model still uses the name of that of the original model ("v_irifle").
Trivia[edit]
- The IRifle is one of the few unreleased weapons shown in pre-release material, appearing in the E3 2003 video "Tunnels".
- In the Half-Life 2 files, several texture files for HUD weapon icons can be found, most of which still containing the icons for almost all of the cut weapons. The IRifle is among them.
- The flare box model can still be found in the Half-Life 2 files.
