Shephard and seven other recruits are standing at attention in front of their beds and trunks. Goose 7 and crash site[edit]

The introduction chapter of Opposing Force, Incoming, begins with Adrian Shephard and his squad being flown to the Black Mesa Research Facility in the Osprey Heliplane codenamed Goose 7. After their transport is attacked and crash lands, Shephard briefly witnesses other scattered military forces battling aliens near the wreckage.

Jackson[edit]

Jackson is an Engineer and a member of Shephard's squad sent to Black Mesa in Goose 7.

As Goose 7 was traveling to Black Mesa, Jackson briefly joked about Tower's mother and proclaimed he didn't care what their mission was as long as he would be able to kill something. As Tower attempted to draw Shephard into the argument, the Osprey flying alongside them, Goose 3, was shot down by an Alien Craft. Shortly afterward, Goose 7 was attacked as well, causing it to crash.

Tower[edit]

Private Tower is a member of Shephard's squad sent to Black Mesa in Goose 7. He is seen carrying a Submachine Gun and an ammo belt. When he questions the unexplained secrecy of their mission, Tower is berated by the commanding sergeant on board the Osprey. Shortly afterwards, their aircraft is attacked and crash lands.

Later on in his journey through Black Mesa, Shephard finds the members of Team X-Ray Zulu, all KIA. However, their radio is still functional, and he overhears a radio transmission from a soldier who has engaged the Pit Worm with his unit. The transmission reveals that Tower survived Goose 7's crash and joined up with a different unit but was then killed, as the commander notes "Tower and Eddy are down, and I've lost contact with the rest of the squad.".

Tower is also a selectable character model in the multiplayer modes of Opposing Force.

Other[edit]

Commander[edit]

The commander of the operation[2][3] (voiced by Harry S. Robins) is a character first heard in Half-Life in the chapter Surface Tension. He calls out to Cooper over the radio to request any final air strikes on the Tactical Map before retreating to safety, a transmission heard by Gordon Freeman. He is seen in person by Adrian in Opposing Force during the chapter We Are Pulling Out announcing these orders. Once he finishes, he addresses Adrian and tells him to get down to the hangar for evacuation.

Cooper[edit]

Cooper was an HECU soldier responsible for operating the Tactical Map set up in Waste Processing Area 3 to call down mortars on Black Mesa. His corpse is found by Gordon Freeman during the Half-Life chapter Surface Tension atop a large waste container next to the map and a radio. Cooper's commander[2][3] attempts to contact him on the radio, telling Cooper identify any last targets before retreating to safety as airstrikes would soon begin. The commander sending this message to Cooper can be seen by Adrian Shephard in the process of transmitting it during Opposing Force in the chapter "We Are Pulling Out".

Eddy[edit]

As heard in a radio transmission in the Opposing Force chapter Vicarious Reality, Eddy and his squad (including Tower) had engaged the Pit Worm in the waste sector of Black Mesa and were killed before Shephard arrived. Note: the spelling of this name is unsure as it is only heard in a garbled radio transmission.
