Portal: Still Alive is an Xbox 360 Live Arcade exclusive edition of Portal released on October 22, 2008. It features the original game with various new levels and 9 new Achievements.
The additional content was modified from and based on the levels from the Portal: The Flash Version MapPack created by We Create Stuff[1] and contains no additional story-related levels. There was a slight change in the campaign which included avoiding being crushed while going through a series of engines.
Portal: Still Alive has not been released on PC, although an unofficial mod is available which includes ported versions of all the bonus chambers. These new levels were later included in the Nintendo Switch compilation Portal: Companion Collection.
Achievements[edit]
The game has 12 Achievements worth 200 Gamerscore points. All descriptions are official; only capitalization has been changed when needed for consistency throughout the wiki.
Achievement | Official description | Score | Test Chamber | How-to | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Go for the Gold | Win a gold medal on a challenge map. | 15G | Any challenge chamber | Self-explanatory. | |
Out of the Blue | Once you have control of both portals, only enter the orange portal. | 25G | Cumulative | Once the full portal gun is obtained, the player must only enter through orange portals. | |
Rat's Tale | Find all the Rat Man dens. | 15G | Chambers 16, 17, 18, 19 | Find all behind-the-scenes rooms. | |
Is Anyone There? | Complete the game without ever taking a bullet. | 20G | Cumulative | The player needs to avoid getting shot by turrets throughout the game. | |
Saw That One Coming | Cause a Rocket Sentry to destroy its own rocket when the rocket has been redirected back towards it. | 5G | Test Chamber 19 | The player needs to open a portal ahead and behind the Rocket Turret and then align the laser at the portal. | |
The Camera Adds 10 Pounds | Knock a turret over with a Security Camera. | 10G | Test Chamber 16 | First, the player must shoot a portal at a camera ("vital testing apparatus"); it will fall on the floor. Then they must put a portal above the turret sentry and another below the camera. The camera will fall on the turret knocking it over. | |
Like a Rat | Trap yourself in a test chamber so that GLaDOS has to help you continue. | 20G | Test Chamber 04, Test Chamber 11, Test Chamber 15, Test Chamber 17 | Test Chamber 04: In the beginning, lock the door with 2 cameras and the cube. GLaDOS will open the door.
Test Chamber 11: After getting the fully-powered portal gun, the player needs to enter the room with the energy ball launcher. Fire both portals inside the room, and let the door close. Test Chamber 13: The player needs to get both cubes into the small starting room, and then move into the main chamber and place both portals in there. Test Chamber 15: Once the player reaches the room with the slow-moving lifts and the energy pellet, hit both buttons to reveal the ball receiver and travel there. The doors will close automatically. Test Chamber 17: After the player places the companion cube on the switch closest to the incinerator, they need to go back in the level and find a few cameras. Then they bring them back to the small room with the switch that activates the incinerator and carefully place them inside the doors. Remove the cube from the switch, and the cameras should keep the door propped open. (They should try again if the cameras fall out). If they squeeze through the opening of the doors with the cube and remove the cameras while they are still inside, the doors will close, locking the player in until GLaDOS opens them. | |
A Feeling Like Floating | Dissolve a turret. | 5G | Test Chamber 16 | The player needs to take a turret, especially the last one, through the Material Emancipation Grill before the elevator. | |
Tests Like Chicken | Find the chicken's test results. | 15G | Offices after escape | The player needs to find a clipboard with a red "Failed" stamp on it; when looked at closely, an icon on the clipboard features the chicken. | |
Cupcake | Beat 5 advanced chambers | 10G | Any 5 advanced chambers | Self-explanatory. | |
Fruitcake | Beat 10 advanced chambers | 25G | Any 10 advanced chambers | Self-explanatory. | |
Vanilla Crazy Cake | Beat all advanced chambers | 35G | All advanced chambers | Self-explanatory. |
