A leather suit was to be worn by Gordon Freeman in Half-Life 2.[1]
Overview[edit]
According to Marc Laidlaw, Gordon was to become an agent for a resistance force, possibly in the service of the G-Man, in one of the early incarnations of the sequel's storyline. Along with the other agents, he was to wear a black, leather stealth suit with various devices latched onto it. It would have replaced the Hazardous Environment Suit from the first game but still provide a user interface and a "more sinister" AI voice. Described as a torture suit or practically a straitjacket, the outfit was to resemble "something out of a Clive Barker film."[1][2][3]
The leather suit was cut along with its associated storyline after the developers realized the success of Half-Life, deciding then to keep the most iconic elements of the title such as the Crowbar and the HEV Suit.[3] The textures files for this version of the suit can be found in the Half-Life 2 leak in the folder for the viewmodel of the Flare Gun.
