"This sensor will light up if an Antlion is coming down this tunnel. More lights means more Antlions. When a tunnel lights up, we move a few turrets in front of it. Pretty simple, eh, Doc?"
Sheckley[src]

The Antlion Detector is a Resistance device detecting approaching objects.

Overview[edit]

Used in the Victory Mine by Griggs and Sheckley mostly to detect approaching Antlions, the contraption includes three red traffic lights connected to a generator. When it detects vibrations, the lights and an alarm activate. The more vibration, the more lights. It is not foolproof, however, as both Gordon Freeman and a group of Vortigaunts set it off.

Behind the scenes[edit]

The alphanumerics on the generator texture read "SCXU 803407 0," with the last three numbers not displayed on the model. They appear to be an example of an ISO code used for shipping container identification, taken directly from a photo of a brightly-colored intermodal container. The owner code "SCXU" is assigned to the container company Seaco.[1]
