"I managed to pocket this Combine datapod. If I can decrypt it, we can figure out how to use their weapon against them."
Eli Vance[src]

The Combine Datapod, labelled Combine Memory Device,[1] is a biomechanical Combine data storage device featured in Half-Life: Alyx.

Datapods are thin, metallic cards housing a circuit hooked up to a Xen Memory Brain[2] visible through a plate of glass. A sticker plastered over the front right center of the device prominently features a hand-drawn number "63" accompanied by other Combine alphabet-printed text including "CITY 17". The organic portion of the device appears to be similar in nature to that of the Memory Worms featured in Combine Interfaces, emitting a pulsating blue-green glow when active.

Half-Life: Alyx[edit]

After having been saved by Gary from a deadly fall in the Fairview Junction, Eli Vance reveals to his daughter, Alyx, that he had managed to steal a Combine datapod. He figures the device contains vital information on how they may utilize what he believes is a "superweapon" held within the mysterious Vault. After instructing Alyx on where she needs to head next, the two parts ways. Later on, Eli arrives at Russell's Lab and exclaims the datapod to be biocoded, informing Russell he will need the "TLI" to decrypt it in order to retrieve information on the supposed superweapon. From the intel acquired, the device reveals that the Vault is actually a prison containing someone that the Combine considers to be a great threat, Eli and his daughter Alyx surmise that they must be holding Gordon Freeman.[3]
