The Capture Grenade, also known as the C-Grenade, is a weapon in the Battle Mode of Half-Life 2: Survivor, which can be unlocked for the Resistance Medic by reaching AA-Class and can also be purchased for the Resistance Ranger for 40,000 SG. It was added to the game in the Survivor 2.0 update,[1] which was released on November 29, 2007.[2] Combine characters use the Poison Grenade instead.

Overview[edit]

Similarly to the Fragmentation Grenade, the Capture Grenade can be thrown in two ways: it can be thrown over medium distances by using the primary attack, while the secondary attack rolls it. It also has the fragmentation grenade's chirping timer, but does not have the red light. Explosion of the Capture Grenade does not deal any damage.

After explosion, grenade creates a pink colored spherical energy field, which rapidly grows and then contracts and disappears in about 2 seconds. Players who come in contact with the field, regardless of the team, will have the capture status effect applied to them.

While captured, the player is unable to move and attack, and can only look around and switch weapons. The effect lasts for a maximum of 10 seconds, but the captured player may escape faster by attempting to move in alternating opposite directions (left-right or forwards-backwards), which is indicated on the screen. Capture is one of the few status effects that can not be cured with the Recovery Injection.

Trivia[edit]

When thrown under water, the Capture Grenade will explode after the timer runs out, but will not emit any smoke or create the energy field.
