The Power Drink is an item (used as a weapon game-wise) in the Battle Mode of Half-Life 2: Survivor, available for purchase to the Resistance Medic for 80,000 SG. It was added to the game in the Survivor 2.0 update,[1] which was released on November 29, 2007.[2] Combine Medics use the Mind Drink instead.
Overview[edit]
The player can drink it by pressing the secondary attack, thus applying it to himself. It can also be thrown by the primary attack button, allowing the it to be used on a player who picks it up. The Power Drink applies the Power-Up status effect to the player who drinks or picks it up.
While under the effects of Power-Up, the player's movement speed and jump power are increased by 40% and 20% respectively, damage dealt with melee weapons is increased by 20% and incoming damage resistance increases by 20%. The effect lasts for a maximum of 10 seconds. If the drink is used for a second time while the Power-Up effect is still active, the player receives the second level of the effect, which seems to increase all the stats once more by the same amount. The player's view becomes darker near the screen edges, and gets even more dark with the second level of the effect, others will see yellow flames covering the player (burning sound can also be heard, even by the affected player).
Trivia[edit]
- After being dropped, it can be picked up both by teammates and enemy players, but teammates will also see a flashing Power Drink symbol with an arrow pointing towards it, even through walls, making it easier for them to find it.
- Only one of the three drink effects can be active at a time (the other two being from the Jump Drink and the Mind Drink). This means that the Power-Up effect will get cancelled if the player uses a drink of other type, and vice versa.
- This item, along with other drinks, is available from the Surprise Box.
- The Power-Up effect is removed after the player's death, submerging in water or using the Recovery Injection.
