The Poison Grenade, also known as the P-Grenade, is a weapon in the Battle Mode of Half-Life 2: Survivor, which can be unlocked for the Combine Medic by reaching AA-Class and can also be purchased for the Combine Ranger for 40,000 SG. It was added to the game in the Survivor 2.0 update,[1] which was released on November 29, 2007.[2] Resistance characters use the Capture Grenade instead.

Overview[edit]

Similarly to the Fragmentation Grenade, the Poison Grenade can be thrown in two ways: it can be thrown over medium distances by using the primary attack, while the secondary attack rolls it. It also has the Fragmentation Grenade's chirping timer and red blinking light. Explosion of the Poison Grenade does not deal any damage.

After explosion, the grenade emits a large amount of purple colored poisonous smoke, which will form a cloud and gradually disappear in about 8 seconds. Players who come in contact with the smoke cloud, regardless of the team, will have the poison status effect applied to them.

The poison effect will deal damage over time, causing 3 points of damage each 1.5 seconds. If not cured, the poison effect can stay active for 18 seconds, thus being able to deal a maximum of 39 points of damage in 13 hits.[3] Infected players will also emit a much smaller amount of the poisonous smoke, this way players can further spread the poison both to their teammates and enemies. The poison status effect can be cured by the Recovery Injection, submerging in water, or picking up enemy dog tags; it will also get removed after the player's death.

Trivia[edit]

When thrown under water, the Poison Grenade will explode after the timer runs out, but will not emit any smoke.
