The Survivor Gold, often abbreviated as SG, is a form of currency that is earned by playing Half-Life 2: Survivor and could be used to purchase different items usable in the Battle Mode. It was first introduced in the Survivor 2.0 update,[1] which was released on November 29, 2007.[2]

Overview[edit]
Survivor Gold could be earned by playing any of the Survivor's game modes, each mode awarding a different amount. It was the currency used in the item shop, with which players could purchase various weapons, as well as cosmetic character skins and emblems. However, unlike the unlocked weapons, the purchased weapons do not add additional weapon slots, which means that to use them the player would need to unequip some of the unlocked or standard weapons.
Amount of the accumulated Survivor Gold could be shared by multiple NESYS cards registered in the Survivor camp. SG could also be acquired when using an unregistered NESYS card, in which case it would get added to the camp after registration.
As of the network service shutdown on February 1 of 2010, Survivor Gold can no longer be earned, making all the purchasable items unobtainable by normal means.
Acquisition[edit]
- In Story Mode, the player is awarded 300 SG after completion of each chapter. The amount is fixed and does not depend on player's score.
- In single player Mission Mode, the player receives 300 SG on completion and 100 SG on failure.
- In multiplayer Mission Mode, the player with the highest score receives maximum amount of SG, each subsequent player receives 50 SG less.
- Difficulty has no effect on the amount of SG.
- By the end of the tutorial the player is awarded 100 SG regardless of outcome.
- In single mode the amount depends on the game's outcome, number of enemies and difficulty.
- In the local mode the amount depends on the outcome and player's place in the team.
- In the national mode the amount depends on the outcome, player's place in the team and also the player's class.
- In the winning team, the player with the highest score receives maximum amount of SG, each subsequent player receives 250 SG less.
- In the losing team, the player with the highest score receives maximum amount, the player with the second highest gets 50 SG less, with the third highest – 200 SG less, and the player with the lowest score receives 250 SG less than the player with the highest.
- The most valuable player also receives a bonus of 250 SG.
