The Pulse Knife, also known as the P-Knife, is a melee weapon for the Ranger in the Battle Mode of Half-Life 2: Survivor that can be purchased for 80,000 SG. It was added to the game in the Survivor 2.0 update,[1] which was released on November 29, 2007.[2]

Overview[edit]

The Pulse Knife has two attack modes. The primary attack allows the Pulse Knife to be used as a melee weapon, with the attack speed close to that of the Stunstick α. It has the lowest base damage of all Survivor melee weapons, but it bypasses the suit's protection, thus sometimes being able to deal more damage than its counterparts.

The Pulse Knife can also be thrown by using the secondary attack. Thrown Pulse Knives behave similarly to Crossbow bolts, in that they are also affected by gravity and can bounce off surfaces. They kill enemies in a single hit, and disintegrate their bodies similarly to the Combine Energy Balls. On the downside, the player can only have a single knife, meaning that the secondary attack can be used just once in each game; after that the weapon becomes completely unavailable. Killed players also do not drop dog tags.

Trivia[edit]

Unlike Crossbow bolts and thrown physics objects, a thrown Pulse Knife does not pass through shields (the Provisional Shield and the Hand Shield), but instead destroys them in a single hit, even if they are fully charged.
