The Mind Drink is an item (used as a weapon game-wise) in the Battle Mode of Half-Life 2: Survivor, available for purchase to the Combine Medic for 80,000 SG. It was added to the game in the Survivor 2.0 update,[1] which was released on November 29, 2007.[2] Resistance Medics use the Power Drink instead.
Overview[edit]
The player can drink it by pressing the secondary attack, thus applying it to himself. It can also be thrown by the primary attack button, allowing it to be used on a player who picks it up. The Mind Drink applies the Concentration status effect to the player who drinks or picks it up.
While under the effects of Concentration, the player's bullet spread is reduced by 50% and the screen will shake 30% less at the time of taking damage (does not seem to affect shake when firing the Gatling Gun). The player also becomes immune to Poison, Paralysis, Paint and Marking status effects, but is still susceptible to Capture and Whiteout. This status effect's maximum duration time is 13 seconds. The player's view becomes blue, with a circle around the center, others will see blue flames covering the player (a burning sound can also be heard, even by the affected player).
Trivia[edit]
- After being dropped, it can be picked up both by teammates and enemy players, but teammates will also see a flashing Mind Drink symbol with an arrow pointing towards it, even through walls, making it easier for them to find it.
- Only one of the three drink effects can be active at a time (the other two being from the Power Drink and the Jump Drink). This means that the Concentration effect will get cancelled if the player uses a drink of other type, and vice versa.
- This item, along with other drinks, is available from the Surprise Box.
- The Concentration effect is removed after player's death, submerging in water or using the Recovery Injection.
