Swing to strike, throw
The Pulse Knife has two attack modes. The primary attack allows the Pulse Knife to be used as a melee weapon, with the attack speed close to that of the Stunstick α. It has the lowest base damage compared to all other Survivor's melee weapons, but this damage bypasses the suit's protection, thus sometimes being able to hurt more than other melee weapons.
The pulse knife can also be thrown by using the secondary attack. Thrown Pulse Knives behave similarly to the Crossbow's bolts, in that they are also affected by gravity and can bounce off surfaces. The thrown Pulse Knives kill enemies in single hit, and disintegrate their bodies similarly to the Combine Energy Balls. On the downside, the player is able to have only a single knife, meaning that the secondary attack can be used only once in each game, after which the weapon becomes completely unavailable. Killed players also do not drop dog tags.
Unlike the Crossbow's bolts and thrown physics objects, the Pulse Knife does not pass through shields (Provisional Shield and Hand Shield), but instead destroys them in single hit, even the fully charged ones.
